Cause of Death:

Cerridyn was always a very healthy chinchilla.  She had a baby that passed away a few months before she died and she just never got over it.   There really was nothing wrong with her physically, she just seemed depressed.   Cerri stopped eating as much and refused even treats near the end.  I honestly do not know what was wrong with her.  Her heart and teeth were fine, but she still went into decline.  There was no infection or tumors or anything wrong.  We think she was just really depressed.  She was drinking water and well hydrated, she just wasn't eating as she should have been.  Until her baby died she was a very active chin who loved to boss her mate around!

Despite my best efforts to get her to eat she passed away early on a sunday morning.  There was no apparently cause of death besides her being a little on the thin side.  She will  be missed greatly by her humans, but also by her mate, Dash.  Dash has since been introduced to a new mate, it just doesn't seem to be the same for him.  The new female just doesn't boss him around the same as Cerri.

Cerridwyn...I am so sorry little girl.  You were so pretty and I didn't mind how squirmy and mean you could be when you were in one of your moods.   Your babies and Dash all love you!
