I have had Wren here for nearly 11 years and I can't believe she is gone. While 12 years is a pretty good age for a rodent to live, I wish it were 20 or 30 years. This morning Wren was fine, she was playing with some younger chins and having a great time bouncing around. At around 11:00 am she started acting a little off. I had to pick up some rescue chins at around 1 om, so I left her and her two cagemates (both around 3 months old) and thought I would come back and see what I could do to help her. When I arrived at home at around 2 pm she was gone. Normally when this type of thing happens we can be assured it was a stroke or a heart condition. Wren was a happy chin. If nothing else could be said about her, it could be said that she was joyous. There wasn't a mean bone in her little body! I put her with young baby chins the last 7 years and she did a wonderful job serving as a mother and a teacher to them after they were weaned Last night she played with her girls and shared her treat with them. I just can't believe that she is gone! At least I know she had her little girls around her when she passed away, and she was loved and happy. I think she waited for me to leave to let go. This is still such a shock as I read this. Losing chinchillas is so hard, it hurts very much. But, losing a chinchilla like Wren is unbelievably difficult. It seems like she has always been here and always would be. I am heartbroken. |
