Date Died:  6-5-2004

Cause of Death:  I came home from a trip to Phoenix and found that Lizzie had expired.  She had trouble delivering her babies and died while I was gone.  Lizzie did not appear to be in labor that morning - I made sure to check her thoroughly before I left.  When I got home there was just a little spot of blood on her nose and I knew immediately what had happened.  A baby got caught in the birth canal and she couldn't deliver him.  That made me feel so incredibly bad because I wasn't there to help her.  She picked the worst day to go into labor.

Lizzie was a large, beautiful violet and she had had kits before.   I was really looking forward to her babies, but now I wish that I hadn't bred her at all.  She was a real sweetheart and I blame myself for what happened.  I had paired her with Sugi, he is just the most awesome standard male.  He's beautiful with the best, friendliest personality.  The babies would have been amazing.

I know that there is always a risk that a female chinnie will have problems during birth, but I am usually closeby and can do something to help.   If you ever want to start breeding chins, please please please understand the risks.  It is absolutely devastating when something like this happens and no one can be with their chins 24 hours a day everyday - it just isn't possible. 

Lizzie I will miss you, little girl.  I am so sorry that I wasn't there to help you when you needed me most!  :(
