Died:  November 1st, 2003

Cause of Death:  We found Kara laying on the floor of her cage with her mama trying to nurse her.  She passed away suddenly from an unknown cause.  This is not uncommon with newborn kits, especially those that are born in multiple kit litters.  There were four babies in her litter and she was a little small.  She seemed to be very healthy for the first few days of her life, but I guess that there was something wrong that we couldn't see.  I feel so bad for her because I know that she would have been such a wonderful little chinchilla if she could have lived into adulthood.  We're so lucky that we were able to get pictures of her and get to know her a little before she passed.  :)
