Cause of Death:  Tyra died of complications from intestinal prolapse.  I had taken her to the vet on the tuesday before she died because she was acting so strangely and found out why she was acting that way.  She hung on until saturday morning and finally passed on.  The vet mentioned that he thought that her body was entering a toxic state from the intestinal trauma and loss of structural soundness of the intestine itself.  Tyra stopped eating that thursday night and had trouble passing droppings properly, but she didn't appear to be in pain during the whole ordeal.  She will be missed very much and thought of fondly very often.  We have a few of her children to remind us of her and how much we loved her.  She was with us for almost four years, during which we became extremely attached to her.  Tyra was my little angel chinnie girl and I don't think that I will be getting over losing her for quite some time. 

The cause of her intestinal prolapse is completely unknown, she didn't have diarrhea or parasites or any of the other normal causes.  Even the vet couldn't figure out why it happened.  He helped so much in trying to fix the problem and resutured the intestines back several times.  We tried everything sort of the invasive surgery that she would probably not recover from since chins are very sensitive to the anethesia used.  A good chinchilla vet is hard to find, so I am very lucky to have a vet as wonderful as the one that helped me with Tyra!
