Died:  4-17-2001

Cause of Death:  He aspirated a foreign body into his left lung and died while under anesthesia during surgery.  Mostly likely the cause of death was heart failure due to the veterinarian using the wrong anesthesia.  Chinchillas can only tolerate anesthesia that is metabolized in the lungs - not the injectible kind (the type used on poor little Gunnar).  I miss Gunnar terribly!  He had the best personality of any chinchilla I have ever had.  I am grateful that his children have turned out to be exactly like him.
