Cause of Death:  This is very hard for me to type because Disa was a very special little chinchilla in my life.  Disa had a surprise baby, Carolyn.  Very shortly after her intestines prolapsed.  The vet was almost positive that a rough delivery caused the prolapse.  I was able to reduce the prolapse and get Disa back to normal.  For a few days she did great, but then there were problems.  Disa developed a respiratory infection and stopped eating.   She was on antibiotics to treat any infection brought on by the prolapse but it wasn't enough.  Her baby died and she followed right after.  It was extremely sad  - to the point where it has taken me 10 months to sit down and write about what happened.  Just another unpreventable thing that can happen when breeding chins.   The structure of her intestines was compromised by too much pushing when delivering her baby.
